my photography

I hope you enjoy looking through the gallery pics, maybe you will be familiar with some of the places you see if you live in or know Essex at all.
You may see places you know but in a different light, and that to me is what landscape photography is all about.
My aim is to capture beautiful photographs of a familiar scene in a new light. Essex has huge scope for the photographer, I think you will agree that you dont need to travel the length and bredth of britain for stunning landscapes.
So how hard can it be, pick a nice sunny day, point the camera at a pretty view, and press the shutter.
Trouble is, landscape photography is quite tricky, in fact it can be bloody difficult. There are so many factors you need to come together at the same time, and it does not matter how much planning you have done, or whether you have the latest top-of-the-range kit, its all about the light, and if the elements are against you, forget it, no amount of time in front of a computer monitor is going to be good enough to do a scene justice.
Being there in the right place at the right time takes quite a bit of work and persistence. Not only do you need to be very competent with a camera, you need to be a good map reader, weather forecaster, and a lucky so and so! Having said all that, there is nothing better than that first glimpse of the camera monitor and instantly knowing "thats the shot". For me that combination of personal achievment, and a love for just being outdoors is what makes me so passionate about my photography.

Best wishes,
Ian Lipscomb

"A slow shutter speed of 1 second has recorded just enough movement in the foreground to add an extra element in this shot of wild flowers at RHS Hyde Hall, Essex".
